I replaced the battery about a month ago, because I noticed that cranking the engine had become a bit sluggish, the original battery served me well for 6 years and lately I noticed that the usual altenator whining when driving at night (under load) has become somewhat permanent... The whining is still there, but not that strong...
The other day I checked the voltage to compare with another car, and voila: 14.6 with or without lights on. I think it's a bit high... any advice?
Thanx

Mine does about 14.4 with no accessories on. Turn on Air/Lights/Stereo/Sub...about 14.2-14.3. Sounds like you are ok...maybe your pulley is going bad

I remember on my F150 my alt was making mad noises....took it to napa to get it replaced...they said my pulley was loose. Ahh...simple stuff makes me mad. Is it just your alt? Hows your belt doing?

What do you put the meter on to read the voltage? As in what do you turn the dial to?

14.6 volts is completely normal, especially for a well charged battery. Find something else to worry about.
