OP sacd3 CEG\'er S Joined: Nov 2003 Posts: 72 NeBrAsKa	Earlier this week I was heading out on vaction to colorado. My girlfriend was driving my 98.5 contour SE that I have had and loved for about a year. it was about 10:30 pm and we were traveling down I-80 at about 85MPH. Out of no were a semi Wheel Rim and Tire rolling directly at us at aprox. 70 Mph Slams into the front of my car setting off my air bags and royaly messing up my car. we were ok and luckly got off the road with out hitting any one. My question Is does any one know how mutch it cost to have the air bags fixed or replaced?

You might want to get a two stage model after reading below "The analysis shows that cars equipped with top-mounted, vertically-deploying airbags (those that are installed at the top of the dash and inflate by crawling up the windshield) have had no fatalities. These include several models made by Honda and Nissan, and the 1996-1997 Ford Taurus. The study also found that cars with airbags which deploy horizontally (by inflating directly out into the occupantâ�?��?�s chest or face), and which have an inadequate safety zone have had 43 passenger-side airbag-related deaths. These include Chryslerâ�?��?�s Dodge Caravan; Fordâ�?��?�s Aspire, Contour, Escort and Mustang; and General Motorsâ�?��?� Geo Metro. These numbers show a statistically significant difference in performance based on registered vehicle years."

We didnt see the semi that it had come off of or she might have slowed down a bit before impact, and it was hard enough just getting the vehicle pulled over with the air bags in our faces choaking on the smoke and dust.
