I think just about anyone could learn a few things about talking smack by reading that. I dig that forum though. At least they get to talk about street racing...[/b]That is some funny s*** man, that guy w/ the civic better hope he has a rocket up his ass.

The owner of a local speed shop here in California has a civic hatchback that has pulled a 12.1 in the quarter. Yes I have seen it race, yes it is fast, and yes he blows engines very often.

Man I have videos out the wazoo of civics beating corvettes, vipers, etc..All it really takes is a built 1.8L VTEC motor (or 2.2L if your crazy) and slap on a turbo running 12-18psi of boost. You dont have to take out the guts, or the radio, or the seats, or anything else. While it may not retain the usual Honda reliability, you shouldnt have to rebuild the motor every other day. My brother bought a civic down in Houston that has a 1.8L (non-VTEC) with port & polish, valve job, and shot-peened(sp?) rods and pistons. It has a GSR transmission and it ran low 14's. We put on a 100 shot of NOS (yes its safe) and it runs into the high 12's. Car has 107K, the motor has about 42K, and he's been shooting NOS every weekend. On another note, last weekend I saw an 89 Eclipse turbo toast a Viper at the street races, but thats easy..

My friends '96 SE-R walks my arse at every autocross we go to (he actually walks almost EVERYONE's arse - usually in top 5 fastest O.A. !!) . Very quick little buggers , those SE-Rs ! I would assume your friends' is the 200SX SE-R, right? The original Sentra SE-R departed after 1994.
Unfortunately, with its K-car/Maxima beam-axle rear end, the 200SX was a slight handling dissapointment out of the box, unlike its IRS Sentra predecessor. The whole package didn't have quite the un-quantifiable charm that the original Sentra SE-R had.[/b]Yup , his car is a '96 200SX SE-R . While I agree that the beam axle thing is a bit "old-school" , it REALLY works on the car . I was at a local Auto-X 2 months back & he literally STOMPED loads of big dollar rides with that beam axle . Out of 180 entrants , he was 4th or 5th fastest . I drove his car that day (as a 2nd driver) and all I can say is "That car handles !" . It's pretty light on it's feet & turns like it's on rails , all that with the stock suspension , an open air filter & good DOT approved street tires . Don't forget , that it also has a factory LSD up front , that helps . He is a phenominal autocrosser , don't get me wrong , but this was my first time in the car & I came in up in the top 1/3 of the pack . I would LOVE to have one of those cars to tool around in , it's a nice little unit . Maybe a new Spec-V is in my future ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Allen If anyone wants to compare numbers on SE-Rs to Contours , visit www.SE-R.net & look around a bit . Here are some specs on the 95-97 200SX SE-R like his .

Hmph. Maybe they're quicker from a stop, but the two ser's (both current and old school, probably stock) I've had a chance to run with on the highway didn't seem any faster than our Duratec SEs. Only thing I've done to my car is modified air box with K&N and removed the res. In the '02 case we were nose to nose from about 50 to 85 when I started to gain a little bit then I shut it down due to space. In the 90's case (couldn't tell the exact year but recognized the body style) I slowly pulled away in the same range as the first.
I have seen some modded ser's that would tear a new one for most any car though.

My friend just got a 2002 SE-R Spec V and the car is geared for acceleration. Despite having a 6-speed on the hwy it's about the same revs as my slushbox tour, and I have an extra 500 rpms of redline, or so they make u believe :p
Every time I come online I wonder if the forums will be up

I would LOVE to have one of those cars to tool around in , it's a nice little unit . Maybe a new Spec-V is in my future ... But the new V-Spec is far from the same car... 1) Weight up over 250 lbs 2) "Tractor" 2.5L out of revs at 6100 (WTF!) vs 7000-7500 for the 2.0L (sweet motor) 3) 6 speed has been universally dismissed as poor compared to the nice 5 speed of old 4) It's kinda cheesy lookin' Personally if I wanted a small Nissan, I would look for a nice used SER
