K this has probably been answered but i couldnt find it so i was just wondering why contours with 3L engines only put out like 180-190hp and torque even with svt parts while 3L tauruses put out 200 hp and torque stock even though they both are using the same engine
what gives?
and btw whats a hybrid 3L? is that when u use like svt engine parts like pistons and heads in the 3L engine?
TCCA member in disguise

0-60mph in 10secs....:( dam vulcan

That would be because the taurus puts out 200HP at the Crank. Contours with 3L's are putting out nearly 200 at the wheels with modification. 200HP at the wheels is roughly 240 Crank HP. HUGE difference, especially when you look at the weight difference.

A hybrid 3.0L is like a hybrid Prius. It has a little electric generator that drastically increases the cars fuel mileage. The engine runs to recharge the battery. Originally posted by SableTuner:

No he's right, you use the SVT pistons in the 3L block. This drops you down to 0 compression and you can put 95lbs of boost through it no problem. Quite a motor!

jerks , a hybrid is a 3.0l block and bottom end mated to svt (or SE) heads and valvetrain as well as induction components. most people also throw in the 3.0l valves when going this route.
this whole "i've been here for 6 years so i am entitled to be a search nazi" attitude really gets old. if you don't want to add anything useful to a thread, don't post just for the sake of posting. if nobody responds to a newbs post, asking a well hashed question, most will get the hint and keep searching til they get the answer they are looking for. i also might add, there are some out there who find our search feature rather cumbersome to use. there aren't enough search criteria to effectively eliminate a bunch of the crap that always comes up when you search. you could take all year trying to sift through some of the search results that i have gotten to find a small piece of information that would take two seconds for somebody who knows to post again.

I think we need a P.C. section on this board, to make all of the Mary's here happy.

Ive been here 2 years. Did the 3L Hybrid swap 1.5 years ago. I did my research. Ive also added good information about my experiences so far with the car. Believe me, it bothers you a lot less that people tell you to search, than it bothers the people that have done research and contributed knowledgable information that people continue to overlook because of pure laziness. That's probably the truest statement I've heard in a long time.

what? LAZINESS? Or the fact that most people don't do what they are going to do. We don't have that on ol' CEG!!! Originally posted by Y2KSVT: pure laziness.
