I am going to buy an SVT with a blown motor. if I buy a 3.0L motor, can I use the parts from the SVT on the 3.0L even though the 2.5 is not running. I am looking to do this and not spend lots of money on the car( under 5,000.00 total) I know there is lots of talk on here about the 3.0L and I want to do it. Any help would be great!!

In b4 teh search nazi's!

Anyway, depends on the condition of the blown engine. You can probably use the timing parts and just about anything else that isnt' already damaged.

Read up on the FAQ's.

spend the $100 and buy a service manual. It will help you a lot.

Read the FAQs in the 3L forum at NECO(fastcougar.com).

The heads on the SVT I picked up a while ago were junk. When the engines go they spin a bearing and the piston hits the head. So a hybrid might be out of the question unless your lucky.

Thanks man for the compliments.

A lot of guys are prefering to go with more of a full 3L route instead of the hybrid setup these days because the 3L heads have extra oil drainage holes which is beleived to be a great improvement. However a hybrid will probably require the least amount of modifications depending on your setup. I recommend you read the FAQ on the NECO boards and do a lot of research on the differences.

And as mentioned before, I definately recommend you invest in a service manual for the swap. It contains all specs and information you'll need.

Or 3. I've used info off the service CD, Haynes, & Ford paper manual. We had them all open for Ryan's swap.

Thanks everyone. I will do some more research on this swap. I may just end up not doing a hybrid, but I liked the idea of it because the motor would look about the same and maybe cost less. I read the Cougar pages but my computer did not load the pictures on the detailed "how to." I can get a blown SVT for about $500, so I will have to think about what to exactly do. What would you guys do???
