Got the code today when I my CEL came on and had it checked at Autozone. It is a '99 v-6 Contour with 114K miles. Just spent $2400 on the car for towing, ATX rebuild and new alternator. I hope that there is a less expensive way to fix this code? Or, do I need to get ready to spend big bucks to get this one fixed.

I read old posts on this problem, but they were solved by the 80K warranty. I also read abou the MILs-don't know enough about them or installing to know if this would be good for me. I just need some advice from you guys who are in the know about these things-

You will have to test it or have it test.
Here's possibles causes:

Use of leaded fuel
Damaged HO2S
Malfunctioning ECT
High fuel pressure
Damaged exhaust manifold
Damaged catalytic converter
Oil contamination
Cylinder misfiring
Downstream HO2S wires improperly connected
Damaged exhaust system pipe
Damaged muffler/tailpipe assembly
Retarded spark timing

We can't how much will it cost before knowing what's the problem.

It can be something as stupid as a bad connections or might have to change your catalytics converter.
