I am planning on installing new pioneer 6X8 3-ways in my '96 contour, front and rear. While looking for door panel removal information, I noticed that the door panels pictured often look different than those on my car.

The screw for the door handle is obscured by a door lock "cover" in my car. (the thing that moves when you lock the doors and make that stupid noise) Also, the handle seems to be more angular and flat than the "countoured"(pardon the pun) door handle levers found elsewhere- probably on later models.

Is installation (door panel removal) the same? How do I pull of the door lock cover to get to the screw underneath? Any experience with this out there? Much thanks.

I used to have a good picture pointing out the hidden screw locations, but Photopoint went bye-bye. So, bear with my memory. There are two screws behind the door pull handle which is covered. One screw behind a little cover in the lower front corner of the door, and one screw behind a little cover near the door opener lever. You have to remove the defrost vent cover before removing the door panel for which there is just one covered screw. Plus the 4 or 5 around the outside exposed. I don't remember any by the lock switch. Once you have the door panel off, you'll have to unhook the power window switch connector.

One thing nobody seems to have any info on is how to remove the cranks for those of us unfortunate enough to have manual windows, I figured it out if anyone needs to know

Every time I come online I wonder if the forums will be up

Figured it all out. Put them in on this hot january day (45 degrees in mpls. a record)- 4 hours by myself. Probably would have only taken 2 (or less) were it not for the pizza break and having to go get a stripper.

uh, btw, a wire stripper. not the other kind.

Thanks for the help- "all" that's left now is wiring up my amp and dual 12" JL audio subs. Then I'm ready to rock.
