I am planning a custom exhaust set up, straight pipe, prolly a res, and dual magnaflow race series mufflers. the prob is that the exhaust will be 2.5 inches, but the inlet magnaflow lists is 3.5 inch and 4 inch. how can i get these mufflers to work with a 2.5 inch pipe, thanks for the help...

are you sure your not looking at the tip size? otherwise, it seems you are looking at mufflers for a diesel truck! you should be able to find mufflers with the right size inlet.

I would stick with a 2.5" inlet muffler since thats the size of your pipe.

Well the muffler I plan on using is the 6" round race series
model. It says here http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/racing.htm
that the inlet/outlet is 3.5 at the least...I know these can work with a 2.5 exhaust cause i have seen it on a 2.5 system. Here http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/476654...so i know it is possible. i would jus like to know how...thanks for the input guys...

have the 2.5" expanded to fit snuggly into the muffler inlet, weld, and you're done. If you don't think that the 2.5" will stretch that much, get a short length of 3", strecth the 2.5" to fit the 3" and then stretch the 3" to fit the muffler, slide it all together, weld and you're done.

Why are you buying Race Series mufflers? Those are intended for BIG cc muscle cars.

The resonator you want would be a performance series muffler, a 10426 which is a 2.5" diameter pipe resonator.

The race series mufflers that dude has on his SVT on Car Domain are Mirror Finish "Race" series mufflers (14842's) which 2.25" inlets, not the actual "Race" mufflers.

stazi, i couldnt find a 10426 item that you listed...but i am guessing that that isnt what i am looking for...i really am looking into the "race" series mufflers...not "performance"...i am aware that they only have a 3.5 inlet...but simple welding can be done i would guess to allow these to fit, thanks for the help peeps.

O, i was also wondering...what benefits will you see from a "custom" exhaust...will you only see more power if the pipe is +2.25 for more flow, or will this jus cause back pressure...i have msds headers on the way, and i am getting the race series mufflers...would it be wise to widen the exhaust pipe to 2.5? or keep it the same...and if kept at 2.25...why even bother with a custom? thanks
