Its time to do some work on upgrading the stereo in the car. So the plan is to switch to a pair of really good components up front and probably jsut midbass in the rear doors. Though I have been thinking that I could also install a midbass in the front doors in the bottom rear corner....hmmm.....
I've been looking at the Boston Pro 6.5's as well as the MB Quart Q series 6.5's. Any opinions as to which would give better sound, or suggestions for other brands? I'm after better midbass, and have an SQ frame of mind. I'm prepared to spend around $300-350USD on a set of components.

Check into ADS 346is comp set....You can't go wrong with them, Decent midbass and some of the SWEETEST tweeters within that price range!
Plus alot of adjustability on the Xovers, plus the addition of being nice looking.
If your not too hot on the ADS's then check into:
Focal 165K2's or CD Tech (Can't remember which model) or Infinity Perfects
Hope that helps

I put Polk Audio EX-3560 in my front doors and love 'em. 6.5" woofer, 1" dome tweeter. Very smooth bass, not booming. Tweeters are extremely crisp, just slightly brittle (I usually leave my treble controls set to flat to compensate for that).

I never have heard the boston's, i here there pretty good , but i do know the MB quart are good speakers, but there more for clarity and highs, not for bass. You should look at a set of JL Audio XR653-CS, these are the ones im getting and are good overall. They run for about 300

Almost any one of the mentioned speakers would be very nice. The Quart Q series is probably one of the more expensive speakers and probably has the best crossover, but all will sound wonderful. The best thing you can do is go listen to as many as you can and buy the one that sounds best to you.

I don't know about the ex series, but my new Polk Audio DX 6.5" components sound excellent. They have good bass response and don't distort even at ear ringer volumes. I'm very pleased especially by the fact that i got them for about $130 shipped from ebay.
don't drink and drive.

what the heck, i'll throw in my 0.02 on this one. i have rockford fosgate fanatic x (mid range quality in the fosgate line) 5.25 set in the front and fosgate 5x7's in the rear. love the sound. clear, good response in mid-bass and highs. components cost me $200 and 5x7's cost me $90. if you can afford it, and it sounds like you can, i'd go with the fanatic q line though. just a suggestion for another option.
