Hello,

Just wondering if anyone who has had there car for sale online has been contacted by someone in Europe and UK in regards to the purchase of a vehicle. Not selling my Contour but a Jimmy and have got 3 emails. These people claim they will send money and set up shipping. Kind of playing along as I don't believe it but if they send me the $$$ and it clears the bank well I guess but still seems a bit fishy. Just curiouse if anyone else has recieved emails regarding this. Any info on this topic would be most appreciated. Thanks.

shipping a vehicle costs about $5k. (had it done years ago). you have to ask yourself, would someone REALLY pay this much to have a jimmy shipped overseas?? maybe a 64 impala, but a normal everyday car?

It's definitely a scam.

"The way it works is like this: the buyer (usually claiming to be a broker representing a wealthy buyer or group of buyers from "whereever" (Sierre Leon, Israel, United Arab Emirates, South America or even London, England) sends a check for payment for the car. The check is for too much money, so he asks the owner of the car to cash the check and then send the overpayment back to the him. So the sting is that they get you to send the money back before you know if their check has cleared. Banks can't tell if the check is real for up to 17 days."

We really need a sticky in this forum explaining the different variations of these scams 'cause it seems like every other day someone is asking "is this s scam?"

My take is if you have to ask if it's a scam then it most likely is.

People pay this much to bring a Japanese Skyline GT-R very often. Theres a local Skyline dealer around here. The price they include is the shipping of thousands to the price.
