i the spring time i will get headers and have the cat removed at the same time.
my question is will it set off the check engine light. will it effect the engines performance negatively?
i have learned that its good to have it removed to regain lost horses, but on the highway the computer tells the car there is an emission problem and stops supplying the same amount of gas unless i get new 02 sensors.
i also hear it will make my exhuast smoke in the winter time.
who here has no cat and was the h.p./torque worth having the illegal mod done?
will havign it removed make my borla exhaust louder?
thanx very much for help the reason i am so concerned is becuase i can not afford to void the warranty on my new engine.

It will not throw a check engine light since there is no 02 sensors after the main cat. It will only effect the hp negatively if you gut the main cat instead of replacing it with a straight pipe. Your exhaust will smoke no matter what...thats what exhaust is LOL. But seriously, I ran true duals without a main cat and the exhaust was no different. It will make your exhaust louder. I never had any direct dyno comparisons between a cat and off road y pipe, but the gains were noticeable.

Yes, that would be smoke. But your comparison to outside cold temps with visible gasses from the tail pipes is not the same.

not quite sure what you meant by blown engine...but..
thite "smoke" in the winter is compeltely normal on a car which engine is still cold. Once it is warmed up a decent amount that "white Smoke" should disspate if not completely disappear..
its nothing more than moisture condensation from the hot exhaust gases meeting the cold air temps.
