Howdy guys! First post going up here and I need some answers in a jiffy because 1) it's late and 2) I need to finish up this tranny soon. So I bought a MTX75 from a 98 V6 2.5L from an auto wrecker recently. It's being swapped into another car, but while it's out in the open, I want to rebuild it. New syncros, and apparently there is a shift fork problem (?), and the differentials get eaten up too. Anything else I'm missing or need to be wary of?

So my main questions are primarily who would you guys recommend going to for the parts, are there other problems that I need to be aware of and take care of now while I can, is an LSD a possibility, and what are the main difference between the SVT MTX and the non-SVT MTX? I'm sure that the tranny came from a non-SVT, just wondering what I need to take care of and what you guys would all recommend. I'm new to the Contour would, so give me a warm welcome and a bit of help. Thanks guys.

Yes. There are two available, one by Torsen, and one by Quaife. Check the list of parts vendors to buy one. A quick search for either will turn up discussion on which one is "better".

None. They are the same MTX. The only differences come from updates through the model years.

By doing it all at one time (the synchros, the shift forks, and looking into LSDs), you're going about this the most cost effective way. Good for you. Let us hear what you got put in and how it turned out.
