I have a RCA 52" HDTV that has a DVI input and i would like to use it for my computer monitor. but when I hook up my computer (Athlon 64 XP 3200+, with NVidia GForce 5300) it won't run a resolution over 640x480 without the picture jumping up and down. anyone know if there are generic HDTV monitor drivers out there? my video card lets me set custom resolutions and refresh rates.. i know the res should be 1900x1080i but what refresh rate? or am i just barking up the wrong tree..

thanks

Matt

Question: When I connect my computer to my high-resolution monitor, I get horizontal or diagonal lines on my TV screen.
Article #1503*

A. If horizontal or diagonal lines appear on your screen when it's connected to the computer, try synchronizing the display setting of your computer and monitor. The high-resolution monitor can display scan rates of:

* VGA: 640x480, 60/72Hz progressive
* S-VGA: 800x600, 60Hz progressive

The display properties for your computer must be set to one of these. Consult the owner's manual for your computer operating system on how to "boot " your system up into the "safe mode" and set monitor display for the desired mode (such as S-VGA 800x600 Progressive).

Just noticed that might not help...Maybe you can ask RCA people directly?

I wouldnt... You will get a burned in image of you computer's desktop in the screen... and the strain on your eyes from looking at it so much would be so painful.

People have had success with an application called PowerStrip . It allows you to control many aspects of your video card.
