Traded my contour fo an '05 Impreza RS base model. What a deal at $21,200 CAD. Had it for a month now.

Great performance, super handling, an overall a suburb replacement for my Contour. Better car by all measures.

I highly reccomend the Impreza as a worthy replacement to the Contour.

Lots of room in the back as well :-)

Is that true? All the WRXs and STIs that I've sat in had really cramped back seats, even compared to the Contour. Is the RS different? Just curious.

The base Impreza is a sweet deal, seeing as it's basically the same price as a Civic. Post pics

I had car fever and wanted a WRX wagon or Mazda 6 wagon, but I bought a 91 Mustang GT and 95 F-150 instead, and still didn't spend nearly what a new car would cost.

That's a completely polar switch.

That's akin to saying I was looking to buy an new G35 but ended up with an 84 Camaro. They have nothing in common except having 4 wheels.

The Impreza is a nice car. However it is smaller then a Contour and slower as well. Besides AWD (and being newer) how do you consider it such a major upgrade then???

I am 6'2 and the seating position much better than Contour. Seats a lot better too. Went on a 200 mile trip through the mountains and no complaints from the rear passengers. Maybe a couple inches less room.

The seats slide forward a long way making for a lot more room on the back for back seat action if that's what you are wondering about:-) Like a limo nearly.

Same as stock SVT. No speed limiter and good for 140. Great suspension on the crappy roads.

AWD and a couple hundred pounds lighter. Won't be dumping $1000 a year onto the thing either at 60K miles.

Lots of used tuning parts for sale and cheap too.

The interior dimensions only an inch or two width narrower with couple more inched head room. Over all an inch or two here and there variance. Don't really notice it. The black interior makes it seem much smaller at fist. At 6'2 it is very comfortable. The trunk is huge. All my camping stuff fits same as Contour.

A lot more nimble and chuckable than the Contour. Feels a lot lighter.

Top speed is similar with no speed limiter. Acceleration good enough ...thought about getting the WRX but the 1.5 or so seconds 0-60 saving not woth $8K + to me. 0-40 is most of my driving in the city and it's fast enough - same as WRX. Very smooth power band.

Needed to get rid of the Contour....money pit just to keep it on the road....was going to get worse. Sucked gas too.

Not really an upgrade...just the closest thing I could find to the Contour. Similar perfrmance but "Made in Japan". Resale on par with a Civic :-)

I had a "79 Brat and an "84 Turbo wagon and I can tell you these things are well engineered and built to last.
