Just curious what speed you guys are going at 3500rpm in 5th gear.
Ive got a 2000 csvt so I svt owner would have to reply.
Tire size are 225/50/16.
Just seem to be going slower than the speedo says and want to know what you are all doing before I take it to a speedo shop.
please dont guess look the next time you drive ont eh freeway and let me know
thanks dan
I agree. You're an idiot because: 1) you went so fast on an open road, and 2) you came here and posted about it. And like Horse said, who cares about maxing through 5th. It's meant as an overdrive gear, not a race gear.

3k should be about 70 so 80-85 seems right

Fords always seem to rev really high in freeway driving... My brother's 93 probe GT would be at like 2900 RPM's doing 60 MPH. Where as my mom's Grand prix sits at like 1200 RPM's at the same speed.

Well first off your sidewall is a little taller than stock sidewall height. This makes your overall diameter larger which will actually make your speedometer read SLOWER than you are actually going.

I wasn't guessing, I know. What I don't know is what mph you should be traveling at 3500rpms with that side tire. You'd have to find someone with that same exact tire diameter. I'd guess it's only about 3mph off.

Its gearing. Grand Prix with the 4-spd auto has 3.05(I think) final gearing, plus the taller ratios of the auto box. Ford MTX 75 has shorter gear ratios and a 4.06 final drive.
3500 RPM in fifth = 82 mph for me. Stock size 205/55-16 tires.

I have a 2000 with the same tire size. My speedo reads high. At highway speeds it is off by 4 to 5 mph. This is compared to what the ECU thinks it is going and the radar speed signs. At 3500 it is just around 80.
