Yesiree, I've done the searches! I gather fairly high recommendations for SPEC 1/ Fidanza but at the same time complaints of clutch noises that you just have to get used to (I also recall reading that in '01/'02 the first time I came here)? I myself have considered Fidanza and Centerforce, have read positive reviews but at the same time have read comments people have made regarding CF being crap?
So my current choice is:
1. Centerforce/ Fidanza 2. SPEC l/ SPEC (if I can be assured buying them matched will eliminate this 'noise' issue as long as I break the clutch in properly) 3. I don't do holeshots so just have my SVT flywheel resurfaced and install a new disc and bearing, using the existing pressure plate wih 45K miles.

Thanks again Ryan,
I'll definitely keep the SPEC solution open as long as I get enough feedback/ convincing that there shouldn't be any 'noise' issue with it. I myself (in my younger days) have had a bit of experience with high performance clutches (Zoom, Mcleod and I think it was Schaffer?) and noises with the clutches was not 'normal')

your pretty much gauranteed to get the notorious clutch "chatter" with the SPEC. I wouldnt be concerned about the noise though. Not to mention, its the best bang for the buck clutch.

I have spec 2 and Fidanza. Chatter is so minimal. You prob won't even notice it.

I did a google search regarding the SPEC chatter an it appears people with LS-1'shave it also, some people don't mind it and others think it make there car sound like a 'POS'. Guess it may be something I could live with depending on when and how long it lasts. Is it just at take off or is it RPM related (meaning for example something that occurs from 1K-2K in first or all gears, just the first second or so after engagement, etc) Seems also that people with Fidanza's have had the chatter go away and some with SPEC flywheels it never went away entirely, hence I think I'll save the $75-$100 bucks and go with Fuadanza.

It only happens when the clutch is not engaged and not in any gear. Push in the clutch and it stops.

So let's make sure I understand this- are you saying it only happens when in neutral? Guess that is something I could live with as long as it isn't TOO loud- meaning a car next to me at a stop wouldn't look over at me as if they thought my nice loking car sounded like crap! Guess I'll put the Fidanza and SPEC l into my spreadsheet.

Remember SPEC is the ONLY setup to use an upgraded pressure plate.
Other kits use the SVT PP or some even a stock PP.
Their unique PP design and clamping force is the reason for the noise. I think it is a miniscule trade off myself. Plus like mentioned it's only audible when warm and in neutral.
