Hey guys, does anyone know when the jackshaft for the Vortech kit was updated for the first time? (And the newest revision if you know it.) Does the newest jackshaft only come with the April 2004 kit or was it updated before that?

I got my old version replaced under warranty. It's a night and day difference. You can easily see which version you have:
Here is the new one
New one before install

I don't have a good pic of the old one, but it doesn't have that big black sleeve for the shaft bearing. The sleeve may still be black, but is alot shorter.

If you send me a pic of yours I can tell which one you have, assuming that's why you are asking.

Are you the guy with the Vortech'd silver cougar that I stomped with my Turbo SVT at the Compuware Arena Autocross last year?

Vortech actually had about 3 revisons while using the spline type shaft. The newest is completely different type of coupler. Read more at this thread:

Hey MapOfTaziFoSho, that was probably me. I make the rounds quite alot in Detroit, remember what show it was? I never was a fan of short-throws but I've recently been considering it. Not because I think they'll help me shift faster, but because I put in a DVD player and the shifter is in the way for backseat passengers.

You should come to more events next year. There are only 2-3 contours and maybe 2 other Cougars that show up. I'm sick of seeing Neons and Hondas everywhere.

Mine is dated 01/03 as the build date. Does anyone know if this is the first or second design? Can you tell just from looking at it? Mine looks the same as KnuKoncepts from the pics.

Should i call Vortec and see if they will upgrade the jackshaft? It's brand new. (Never installed)

This FAQ has a photo showing the differences between the pin drive and the spline drive. The pin drive has a much bigger coupling between the shaft and the compressor.
