few wks ago this happened to my gf car now it is happening to my car there the same exact car except mines a mtx its a 2000 ford contour se sport v6 mtx

today my car started acting up the windows would move slow and the wipers would to then my front speakers started making popping sounds my ac was weak.. so i turned off the car and it would'nt restart and when i tried it made a ticking noise the wiper would move all by itself and the red dot on the dash would blink. so i had the car jumped it started fine then it wouldn't restart when i shut it off so i bought a new battery and it restarted and worked fine except now the battery lights on and it won't shut off???

does anyone have any idea why my new battery is a diehard gold 5yr warrenty

i would appreciate the help..

why wouldn't the battery light come on before then why after i put a new battery in this happened to my gf car 3wks ago and hers is the same car with about 55k on it and this also happened to my 96 v6 atx contour when i had that in 02 it had 65k on it changed there batteries and it was fine...

You said you had it jumped. Did you have the jumper cables hooked up correctly?
Car being jumped: Positive Jump cable to Batt +, - cable to vehicle ground NOT Batt - .
Helper car: Positive Jump cable to Batt +, Negative jump cable to Batt - .

If you "hooked up" the old style way you may have damaged some sensitive electrical component(s).

it was fine i drove it this morining and it started [censored] up only this time on the highway it wouldn't accelerate anymore it was reving all by itself then it died i used a battery pk to jump it it worked then 5min later the car did it again and died then i used another car to jump it and it started but i had it in nuetral and it was reving all by itself then it died after like 3min and wouldn't restart with out help from a jump???

im lost...

your alternator is gone ,,i had the same issue awhile back. When you jump the battery, you are only giving it enough juice to start the car, from then the battery will die fairly quickly cause the alternator is not kicking in.


I drive a Ford, what else do you need to know??

Before replacing the alt check the mega fuse. You may have blown it during the jump. The Bat light indicates that the alternator is not charging the battery. Always check the fuse first.

got my car back from the shop they said its not the alternator its was the connection from the batt to the alternator was bad and that my tb was filled with gunk..
