Ok.. before anyone asks.. I searched the forums all day yesterday (needless to say I got no work done) but did not find anything that could help me with this.
The story goes.. Hubby filled up car on Sunday night, drove 10 km home. Monday morn, hubby is driving and not even 10 mins from home the car stalls as he is slowing down for a stop sign. No warning, it was like someone just turned the key off. Rest of the day it was fine. Yesterday, I drive to work and along they way on a straight strech doing a constant speed the cel light comes on. I then search all day and I remembered that in some of the newer cars, if the gas cap is not tight then the engine shuts down due to emissions control things. (we had this happen on a rental 2003 Camry). So I checked the gas cap and found it was missing. My hubby probably forgot it on the trunk at the gas station and drove off.
Went last night to go buy a new cap and everywhere was closed and it stalled again on the way home. I am buying a cap today so I am hoping that will stop the stalling problem and a friend works at Canadian Tire so they will pull the codes off on Sat.
Now.. my question is whether or not the stalling and the missing gas cap are connected? My hubby seems to think so but I am not so sure, even though the stalling started after we were missing the gas cap.
Thoughts anyone?
