I just finished a statics class, and I want to create my own skirts, and front bumper--sticking with the svt look in the rear. I'm awesome with foam forms, and have created a fiberglass body form for msu-mankato's AET program. I want aesthetics to be perfect, and was wondering if there are any pointers you guys could give me. For example, on the glass mat: crease waxing techniques, proper resin thickness, where and when to use foam sandwiching, etc. I am novice enough where I want to get help before diving in. Thanks!
I think, I tinker, I play around, I build.

Hey guys thanks anyways for looking at this. I'll just ask my old prof. When I'm done, I'll type up a how-to with pics, because this'll save you some serious bank, and the only limitations are your imagination, and a few specs.

Its not too hard. You can buy the resin and the fiberglass at Home Depot or Lowes. Basically, just set up your mold and lay the sheet of fiberglass over it. Add the 2 parts resin to a bowl or something and take a paint brush (if you dont mind ruining it) and just wipe the resin on. It can get pretty messy and runny if your not careful.

So would you recommend setting up a foam form, mat/resing the back of the form, and just resing the outside(sandwiching technique) for stuff like skirts/bumpers?

do not use the home depot resin. that stuff will fall apart and desentigrate. use epoxy and vinylester resin not polyester. also you do not want to use foam underneath fiberglass for a final product. you can make a plug with it. also just fyi to make a good mold for stuff like that it takes alot of work and time and can cost in the upwards of 500 to a grand for a good mold. side skirts would be very easy but bumpers. making them from scratch would be a [censored].

Sounds like I should just form, and mold abs plastic with a clay base mold for the bumpers.
