I traded the tour in on an 04 Mazda RX-8. MSRP on the 8 was $31,800...talked the sales guy down to $27,896...got $4000 trade-in on the tour (100K on the odo-2nd dash was starting to warp) and picked up the premium extended warrantee for $1,250. Someone else had traded in a black E0 SVT not 20 minutes before me!! I gues "it's" going around (the new car bug...) Thanks to everyone here (especially Lance, Terry Haines, Ray M., DemonSVT and Big Jim) for taking the guess work out of owning the tour. Somebody is going to get one hell of a well maintained SVT...I just had all the fluids changed out !! Thanks again!! Art

-1998.5 Contour SE V6 ATX.
PM me to tell me of a welder that can craft me a modified Y pipe in the Los Angeles area! OR I may be willing to buy a 3 flange modified Y.

Well it's fast, but if it's anything like the old ones 100k miles is the breaking point for tranny and engine. The new ones have a different design for the intake /exhaust that makes them perform like the previous turbo ones did. The look cool and are fast, but not very practical if it's your only car.
ATX MTX swap, rear drum disc swap, drilled rotors, ported intake, optim throttle body, CAI, 7.5L MAF, adj. fuel regulator, longtube headers, underdrive pulley, no EGR, low inpedence bigger injectors, 2002 Focus Swap

Just a question: How good are the online car prices (like www.carsdirect.com) compared to dealer prices ? Can you make a comparison with the options you have ? They suck on trade-ins though, wouldn't give peanuts for my car... Thanks, Tiv

The old ones (Rx7)lasted only 100k due to major issues with cooling and the heat of the turbos. Any rotary guy can tell you that.
Congrats on the new car.

Congrats, on the purchase. I loooove the RX-8s, so sexy. Which color did you get? The only thing that i'm not a huge fan of is the dash design, but i guess it would grow on me if i owned one...otherwise i think its perfect....

Thanks!! I've be agonizing with buyers remorse since yesterday...I still can't bring myself to throw a way the Chilton's Manual or any of the left over parts in the garage...
I sold my extra set of Midnight Blue SVT floor mats and a brand new (still-in-the-box) front end mask to one of the sales guys who had just purchased the black E0 mentioned in the original post
I got the Velocity Red with the Grand Touring package, MT, and the Red/Black leather interior. This car is just amazing!!! The guy who sold it to me is a friend and he gave me a HUGE 4'x10' vinyl advertisement banner depicting my car!!
Again, thanks to everybody here who made owning the SVT soooo much fun!! I hope the community over at RX-8club.com is as friendly and helpful as you folks have been!! Zoom Zoom...

even though you got rid of the tour thats a pretty nice car you decided to go with. A buddy of mine has a silver one and i raced him and had like 5 car lengths on him by the time we hit 70. I think that was because its an auto and hes a [censored] but still fun saying you beat an rx8 with a stock SE tour. How does it handle by the way?
