Has anyone put a heat sink on the imrc cover to see if it helps dissapate the heat at all?

My friend actually jokingly suggested I do that. I was thinking a P4 heatsink would fit nicely on it, about the right size, although a bit tall. How would you plan on attatching it? Sounds like a ghetto mod I might just be up for.

What about that new water cooling for computers??? Will that work???

Im just kiddin, but seriously, finding someway to remove heat from the box is a great thing!!!

But htinking about it im not sure if it would work....cause in a CPU tower you have a fan blowing the air out, which promotes movement of the heat comming of the heat sink to get dran out, also lowering temps in the case.

Our engines are so cramped and warm with the heat resonating form the block, it would probably do no good to put a heat sink....might make it worse, since copper is a great conductor of heat also.....maybe look at the underhood temp comapried to the IMRC's actualtemp...if the underhood temp is hotter, then it might not be worth it.

cut a 2" by 2" square hole and mount a bearing fan on it for pulling the hot air out

I don;t think a fan that small, even flowing at 84 CFM is going to do much good, when it doesn;t have a way to blow the air out, off the IMRC....its just going to get recurlated in the engine bay with out proper ventalation.

If the underhood temp is low enough that a KKM or similar unit is effective, then doesn't it stand to reason that the ambient air temperature is low enough to make the IMRC down instead of heat up with a heat sink? But buy the same token,I've run 154K HARD miles with the Duratech cover in place and haven't had an IMRC issue yet (knock wood).
