1/3rd acre.....75ft by 200ft lot. I have the whole basement gutted now and I'll continue on the upstairs probably thursday. I had to bid above asking price. Right now the market is still crazy. people are bidding way above asking if they want the house. Its a sellers market big time. I wish I could have paid less but its hard to find anything under 140K that is in good shape and needs no work. i found only one place that fit the category and I wasn't gonna buy a house on a 1/16 or smaller lot beautiful house terrible lot and the garage was falling in....then I found the place I bought. It has a few skeletons in its closet but oh darn. its an investment

Damn dude, I know how you feel. I am about to sign a lease and here you have to put down 3 months rent for the deposit plus there is a ââ??¬500 contract signing fee, so that's ââ??¬1800 all at the time of signing plus I need to buy furniture and other stuff which is going to come to ââ??¬3000, I am gonna be broke too

140K!!! YIKES!! That's a pretty healthy mortgage payment, especially for something that size. Or maybe you didn't spend that much and were just speaking in general. I purchased my house about 5 months ago. It was my grandparents house originally, my grandfather built it in 1961. He passed in 1983 and my grandmother just passed in April 2003. I got the house with a 2nd lot for about 25k UNDER asking price. Talk about free equity! My 980sq ft house with full size walkout basement is sitting on 1.3 acres, and I paid 65k Shows what a difference in location makes on property value. Mark

I could have gotten my grandpas old house cheap too. But I didn't want an old 2 story monster. I'm in an older neighborhood away from "little mexico" as I like to call it. My house wasn't 140K..that was about the max I could afford without lving on balogna on hand yes i did pay over asking price, but if you are currently looking for a house you would understand the demand for houses now and the crazy asking prices out there. House values are going through the roof and us younger folks can't afford these crazy prices. It sucks my real estate agent(who also is my uncle)was saying the youth today have it really hard to get ainto a house. With some sweat equity this house I got will be a money maker. It's all an investment in the future to me.

I definitely know what you mean. Prices of homes are getting pretty out of control. I'm hoping that works to my advantage. I got pretty lucky though with having a brother that owned a mortgage company, I put 0 down and still got a pretty nice interest rate. All closing costs were paid by my dad and aunt since they were making the profit off of my grandma's house. I just knew I didn't want to rent anymore. Im in the position now that I don't know whether to sell the house in a couple years after I fix things up a bit, or hold off until my house basically gets boughten out for commercialization. Too many decisions!! Mark

Well the bank told me yesterday that I can put an offer in on a house I like for up to 90,000.... I had one picked out that was 1300 sq ft, 2 bedroom, 1 car garage, .2 acre corner lot in town, 1.5 baths, new windows; siding, wiring, and roof..... but I called the owners and they have an accepted offer. damn it
here it is if anyone wants to look and what I am talking about, all the pics will pop right up -
