title sais it all, he has signed with sauber for 2005 but he ran test laps in the Reno R24. He did 68 laps, but for him it wasn't the times, it was more about getting back into the grove. Good luck to Villeneue next season. any thoughts?

Yeah, he's a whiney little spoiled punk who damaged his father's name by his attitude.
I hope he sucks.

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.

Can't stand the guy. I liked it better without him. I guess he always adds that unknown element though, as you never know what his next antic will be.
In other more interesting news, Trulli has been released from his contract at Renault meaning he is free to race with a new team for the rest of the season. Sounds like Trulli will start racing for Toyota, filling De Matta's spot and then Villeneuve will race for Renault for the rest of the season...that is speculation as he is testing for them at Silverstone.
Next season should be interesting.

Hard to really compare that. A lot of development was coming down the pipe that would have happened with or without him. It just happened to coincide with his leaving.

Fact is, they probably wouldn't get half the development done if they had to pay JV $20 million per year...
Saved $15 million, dumped $15 million into development, 2nd in team points.

I agree. I'm just saying that you can't say that they were where there were because he was a bad driver. It is too bad he couldn't put his pride aside and give up some money to help create a good team.

wow you guys really dont like him. I thought it was shumi with the attitude that people said Did everyone forget that he actually was prolly the only one in his time who could match shumi. He is one of the few who has a championship title in his hand. Sure he's right after shumi in the salary numbers but he has the talent. He'll do well next year, I don't know about sauber though bad choice but if I were him, I'd take it just to be back, I mean whats worse, being called to drive for Minardi? god forbid that we'll see what happens, I'm anxious to find out the shanghai circuit

But Schumi has 7 titles in hand, JV has 1, so I'll cut Schumi slack on having an attitude, even though I'm not sure he has one to begin with.
Kinda like Lance Armstrong, the guy is a prick, but damn he *almost* has a right to be.

He got lucky. They said Irvine was the only one that could match him, and look where he is now. Ditto for Webber, everyone was jumping on his bandwagon....
But yes, we don't like him.

Contrary to most who have posted, I have to say I'm glad to see Jacques back in F1. I probably wouldn't even care about F1 if it weren't for Jacques as I followed him in CART and onto the F1 stage. He's an exciting driver that rocked the F1 boat when he bleached his hair and won the championship. Yeah, that one little act was controversial for even the decadence and playboy attitude of Formula 1.
As for BAR's performance this year, I think people should stop blaming one person or another and admit that the involvement of David Richards and ProDrive are one of the keys to BAR's recent success.
