...is approximately $800.
When i originally asked (on the phone) McMahon Ford in Norwalk CT. how much it would be to install the dash repair kit i bought from them, I was told "Around $1200". When i actually went there and picked up the kit, i decided for S's&G's I would ask again...they just now quoted me at $450 to install. From a phone esimate of 12 hours/labor, to an in person estimate of 4 hours + $100 to remove the windshield. And in person, they also didn't tell me "you know, we will probably end up breaking the windshield when we remove it, so youll have to pay for that too". Finally, their rates seem to have dropped, from a phone quote of $83/hour, to an in person quote of $75/hour What a difference eh? Do they do this on purpose? Are they trying to put themselves our of business?
On the same note, I asked him how much a clutch job was...$1000 with parts. That means like $700-$800 without or about 10 hours. Another substantial drop in estimate.

They really didn't look it up on the phone, they just pulled a number out of their a$$.

AFAIK, all dealerships are cheats - according to my experience anyway. Last winter an animal had crawled up into my engine (since it was warm once i parked it at home) and chewed up all my spark plug wires.
Ford quotes reapir at $650.
Went to a local auto shop a few blocks from my house and received all repairs and labor for under $200. BTW, the old man thought it'd be a good idea to put some moth balls in the engine bay. Oh yeah, great.

ContouR CreW you are soooo wrong about all dealerships are cheats. We just recently had about $800 worth of work done on our Taurus for $50 under the warranty assistance program at McRee Ford in Dickinson, TX. This was for a TSB fix and all it took was an email to the GM of the dealer about the TSB and our problem, they hadn't even looked at the car yet. Good dealers are out there.

There may be a FEW good Ford dealers out there, but they are rare. The fact remains most Ford dealers suck @$$ when it comes to service and price. The dealership I bought my CSVT hassled me for a bunch of minor problems they shouldve fixed before giving me the keys. It was a long time ago now but in retrospect, MAN I almost walked away from buying the freakin car it was so bad. To spare specifics, Id say I went to that dealership for a total of about 12 times and had it in after purchasing it 3 times with 2 instances of having a rental car. If it wasnt a CSVT, which I wanted so bad, I wouldve never purchased it. Middle Finger to that dealer.
