Welp, I recently totaled my SVT Contour and I took delivery of a little ZX3. And one of the first things I'm gonna do is replace the audio...but I don't know what to do!!! One thing I didn't like about my CSVT setup was that high's sounded too piercing! Annoying and painful highs. And my sub didn't seem to react fast enough? Does that make sense?
My CSVT was the first car where I changed the stock audio pieces...here's what I had:

Pioneer 6x8 3-ways (TS-A6865)
Boston 6x8 2-ways (FX92)
Kicker 12" (CompVR 01C12VR2)
Rockford Fosgate 2-Channel Amp (Punch 250.2)
Pioneer Headunit (DEH-P430)

What do guy recommend I do with a max budget of $1200? Budget has to include istallation cuz I can't do that stuff!

Thanks!!!

Well, the focus has some more aftermarket support than the contour even in audio, so it should bt two difficult to put together something nice.

Front Doors:
the Focus has prefabbed kick panels from Q-logic (I believe). They are somewhere around 100.00. www.mmxpress.com has some crystal 3 way component sets that would work nicely in conjunction with the kicks (get the silk dome tweets not the titanium). They are 118.00.

Rear speakers: Crystal 5x7s. $69.00

HU: Like all cars, the HU is kind of a personal choice thing. The quality differences between the top brands are miniscule. I would probably lean towards the Nak CD45Z which you should be able to find for 300.00. Ad 20-30.00 for the adaptor plate to make it fit.

Another one to look at is the JVC SH99 (i think that is the model number). It has MP3 playback capabilities and a nice D/A converter.

Wiring: KnuKonceptz amp wiring kit. $? Guess 40.00...

Subs: Blueprint 1201 with Subzoneusa.com box number H-121. 130.00

Amps: 3 Planet Audio Tube amp from www.groupbuycenter.com . 150.00 Each. 450.00

HU: 300.00
Doors: 200.00
Rear: 70.00
Wiring: 50.00
Sub: 80.00
Sub Box: 50.00
Amps: 450.00
-------------
Total: 1200.00

You could save 150.00 by powering your rear speakers off of the HU.

dnewma04 - that was a very nice break down. Sounds like you know your stuff.
I personally live and die with MTX and Infinity.

dnewma04- I was thinking about adding 6x9's to the back dash of my tour. what do you think? currently i run 2 MTX 6000 subs (12in) and Infinity Kappas in the doors and power them with an old stlye two channel amp (Mtx) and a JVC hu with 45wats. should i do it? If I do, I wanna dynomat everything. Have you tried that? Is it hard? I would be doing all the work myself. Thanks people!

Sorry this is soo long.

I personally wouldn't do it. But I'm not you... smile

Why are you planning on doing it? Is there something in your system that you are not happy with? I guess to me, it sounds like you have a pretty nice system that should sound great, but If you are unhappy with somehting in particular, it might be better to replace something else in your system.

I've heard that having speakers in the rear deck while having a subwoofer in the trunk can make the speakers in the rear deck distort because the sound waves from the subwoofer push the speakers upwards. Any truth in that?

Not if you seal them off from the trunk.
