The controls on my Canon G2 camera quit working. I really liked that camera but I guess it's time for a new camera. I like a camera with good automatic focus and good color. What camera would you recommend? Are there any real bargains for the money? I want a really good camera, one that will take sharp,in focus & colorful pictures.
My Canon G2 camera was the perfect camera for me but I had took thousands of pictures and the batteries were going bad. I think the processor is going bad.

I've got the Canon A80, I've been very happy with it, though the zoom function is a little limited.

If you liked your G2, how about a G6 or the outgoing G5? They are more recent models of your G2.
The only bargains are the outgoing models. Most brands have their fans.

I second this, if you liked your G2. Otherwise I'd recommend a Sony Cybershot (as APT said, brands have their fans!).

Make sure you look at reviews on sites such as eopinions.com. The Fuji A330 is highly rated for use, quality, battery life and value. And a 3.2 MP for that price is phenomenal.

Also, keep in mind the cost memory and batteries. Will you be using the current memory card or have to factor in the cost for a new one. Some media formats are cheaper than others. Proprietary batteries are more expensive, but they can be smaller and lighter than AA's for example. OTOH, NiMH AA's are quite cheap for the capacity.
I'm a Canon fan, but I also admitt the quality of other brands has greatly increased. Sony, Fugi, Minolta, Olympus, Nikon, and Canon all have similar level of autofocus point and shoot cameras. Which features you'll use at whatever market prices should be more important now than it was just a few years ago.

Most of my pictures I take are outdoors, I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ1. Can't beat 12X Optical with image stabilization. Downside is its only 2mp, the 4mp version is still over $400.
I've heard Canon and Fuji make the brightes, most vivid color cpature cameras.

Yes, a friend of mine has the older version of the A330, and it takes CLEAR pictures, even in no light situations (he took a pic at night, under streetlights, going 40 mph, with flash out of my car, with window up of a girl showing... well anyway, it came out clear).
I just purchased the A340, which is the same as the A330, but 4 MP. Got it for $164 (walmart.com wants like $200, w/o shipping) with shipping off BuyERetail or whatever. Found them on pricewatch.com. Too bad they wouldn't ship it to me. Ordered it, they have to verify the order, which is a good idea, but wouldn't ship it to me because my current address isn't in the phone book (I live in the dorms, on base...). Asked them why they couldn't do a drop-ship, they were like "uhh... what's a drop ship?". Needless I had them ship it to my mom's house, which delayed me getting it. She just got it today, hopefully I get it by Friday.
