Back in 87', yeah, I said 87'

, I aquired a 1978 Caprice Classic 2 door from my grandmother when my grandfather passed away, she didn't drive. I was 17 and upgraded from my rusted out 75' Chevelle. Being a student at the time I didn't have alot of money, so I just added some wide 50 series tires mounted on 8" Vette rallies w/ 7" Monte Carlo rallies up front. After I graduated my gift was a new paint job and a year later I paid $2K for a "built" 350 to replace the weak 305. As time went by and my perf needs/wants grew, I changed out the cam 2 more times, intake twice and carb once. I also added a torque converter from a Vega to increase the stall speed and had a 4.10 gear w/ Auburn posi added to take off, seeing that the car was so big and all

By now its 91' and I wanted more, who doesn't and decided to go BIG, well big small block that is. I had a 406 s/b, 4000 stall and get this, 4.88 gears added to the car, now named "Frankenstein" because it was big, green and powerful! I did take the car out in the wee hrs to "see who's bumper could stay out in front" and most of the time, mine did just that. It wasn't the fastest car out there, but for being so big, a small block and NO NOS, it created quite a legend in the metro Detroit "after hours" events. By 94' I moved into my own place and was tires of repairing pushrods that kept going through the rocker arms so I decided to sell the car to my now ex-boss, who was 50 at the time. Needless to say, the car is alot faster now, check this out:
The car now is a bit "healthier" then when I had it, but then again, I didn't have over $30K into it either

My combo was for the street:
-hydrolic cam 507/530 lift
-stock rockers
-5.7 rods
-90-10 crank
-.239/.247 @ .050
-406 s/b
-Edelbrock Perf RPM intake
-World Prod heads (iron) w/2.05/1.60 SS valves
-1 5/8" headers w/ 2 1/4" exhaust dumped at the rearend
-2 chamber Flowmasters
-750 Holley w/ vac secondaries
-4000 stall
-4.88 gears
-Koni drag shocks
-Comp Eng rear drag shocks
-V6 coils in the front
-NO front sway bar
-COLUMN SHIFTED!
I had TWO full seasons of "after hours" fun on the car when I sold it and then my ex-boss took it straight to the track and it ran a best of 12.6 @ 106 mph, not bad for a real street car that was never trailered anywhere, period! Now the car runs a best of 9.50 @140 mph w/ a 200 hp shot of NOS and a very built motor using EFI and computer, trans brake w/ 3-4000K stall and I think a 4.10 or 4.56 gear. I will say the car has gone on a diet though, having a fiberglass hood and front/rear bumpers, and a slightly gutted interior w/ racing seats and cage. When I had the car it was all stock looking, right down to the SS trim around the wheelwells and bottom of the car. Just thought you'd guys enjoy the pics, alittle slice of where I came from
