Don't forget:
-Clarion -Blaupunkt -Aiwa -Pioneer Premier -Rockford Fosgate
I don't see any particular brand as being a standout from all the ones listed.
The deck with the features/specs I'm looking for and the best looks gets my vote.
Right now, my numero uno choice would be the Clarion Pro Audio mp3 deck. Great features, looks, and price ($340).

My favorite HU is a Sony.
Nak, Clarion, Alpine are my favs as far as all around quality throughout the product line. Eclipse and McIntosh should also be mentioned in this group.
Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony seem to fall into the next level of decks.
Panasonic, Blaupunkt, JVC get grouped together because they have all showed some innovation but have had some quality issues in some models. They all make utter crap to some of the best HUs available. Sony could drop into this category, but I believe their highend stuff to be better then the others mentioned here.

I like my Sony CDX-C910. It is the nicest HU I have ever owned.

I would take an Alpine 7909 over pretty much any deck.
