No. The S-AFC tunes the A/F by altering the MAF input signal to the PCM.

Lastly, can I reuse my oil pan gasket if I am reusing the stock SVT oil pan? I'm not trying to be cheap here, I'm just trying to avoid buying parts that won't make any noticable difference in performance or reliability when standing up to the abuse of a highly spirited 18 year old driver.

Then why are you skipping the upgraded oil pan???

I also agree you should change the oil pan gasket either way.

Youre killin' me Demon! My idea started as a simple low mileage 3L Hybrid. Then I started reading your web page... okay clevite rod bearings sound pretty good, oh what the hell why not port the oval port heads to fit my SVT LIM? Then things started gettin expensive. Shift forks, LSDs, new oil pans... whats next? you are taking advantage of a way too impressionable and power hungry kid. the reason i was skipping all of those parts was because wasnt becuase i didnt want them, it was cause i didn't want to PAY for them. i'm gonna look into that oil pan, but could you just give me an idea of what I'll be paying for the pan/windage tray/etc. i've got a friend who can get me and pretty much anybody parts at discount prices so I'm assuming it won't be too bad, but a ball park figure would be nice jsut for budgeting purposes.

One more thing... is dyno tuning using SAFC a half way decent replacement for a custom chip? Also what kind of difference would having an aftermarket computer chip make if you are going to be tuning with the SAFC anyways? The only difference I could think of would be the rev limiter and possibly spark timing. Is this it or is there more? Thanks everybody

S-AFC only tunes WOT A/F ratio.

A "properly" tuned chip tuned by an "experienced" tuner changes every PCM variable!

One is bare minimum and the other is optimum. A Night & Day difference!
