Hi everyone,

Was wondering if anyone knew of a good shop in the Boston area (I'm in Newton) that could replace both my rear struts and springs on a '95 Mystique if I provided the parts.

I bought a set of Sachs struts from BAT, coil springs from CarQuest/Moog, and a pair of top brackets from Bill Jenkins. I was going to put them in myself but my dad, whose garage I use, is having the concrete walk in front of his house resurfaced and no one can drive over the concrete for two months. Right now I'm driving on a pair of broken rear springs and a stock rear right shock that's slowly leaking. The shops that I've called so far are not willing to use my parts for fear of "fit problems".

Thanks for your help!

I only know of places in NH. They will install your parts, but they usually jack up the hourly rate a bit because they aren't making money off the parts. If you're willing to come north of the border check out these places.

Holt's Autosport
1 Columbia Cir
Merrimack, NH 03054
603-423-0007

We get our 95 GL serviced here. They do good wook.

Martel Racing
232 S Main St.
Manchester, NH 03102
603-622-9747

They've installed the Borla on the SVT and Cougar.

Concord Lincoln Mercury
158 Manchester St.
Concord, NH 03301
603-224-4100

We had a bad expeirence with them once, but the a$$ hat service manager is gone so all is good again. Talk with Lee in service and he'll take care of you. Also ask to have Mike do the work. They installed the Bat struts and Eibach springs in the SVT and Cougar.

I did a quick search of the NE forums, and a couple people recommended FLM Automotive out of Billerica MA. (about a half hour north of Boston).

I also live in Newton and I just had someone "upgrade" my sagging suspension to some used SVT struts and springs I bought off the classifieds section here. Go to the Shell station on Centre St. right near Newton Centre. The mechanic's name is Hamid and he's the best I've ever gone to. Very honest and thorough. You can tell him that Darren (with the Merc Mystique) told you to go there. That won't get you a discount, but he'll probably do it and I know he'll do it well. I haven't been going to him that long so if he gives you a wierd look like he doesn't know who you're talking about tell him Hucine (pronounced Hussein) sent you. Hucine is my barber and he's the one who sent me there.

Cobra, Kim, and Darren: Thanks so much for the suggestions! Good to have options. I'll check these shops out.

How much are people charging?
One place was quoting me around $400 plus another $100 for an alignment.
Thanks.

i paid around 350 i think. go to Firestone to get the lifetime alignment and you get an alignment whenever you want for the rest of the time you own the car.
