I have a 99 V6 5 speed and I am very happy with the handling. However I have never driven in an svt before so i have nothing to compare to.

Or just stick a 3.0L in the se/sport! Costs alot less than the SVT for doing the same thing in the end. I have a 2.0L and if you plan on goin fast, don't get it! Never drove in a SE/Sport, but have rode in an SVT and they are very fast and handle excellent! If you're goin the 3L route, get the Sport cause it's cheaper than the SVT and with a 3L and some suspension/interior mods you could have an SVT look alike or better for not that much?? Idk, just my opinion...

Stay away from the 4-banger and/or NAY version with the ATX if you want a PERFORMER.

No offence to those with Zetecs and/or ATX tranny's but they suck when it comes down to making power and gpoing fast.

For $5-6K you could easily find an SVT if you look around.

I'm looking to get another Contour as well. My budget is a bit lower... 2k-3k. I'm looking for '95-'00 V6 MTX Contours, and so far I've found 4 near my area. Just need to sell my current car first.

I used to own a '95 V6 Contour GL with a 5spd manual, that thing was pretty quick, loved it... very good handling as well.

Yeah, what Stazi said! i found mine for a little over your price range w/ high mileage. But she runs great! gonna swap in a 3L next spring. I also have a pre 98 SE v6 MTX, there is not even a comparison between the too. SVT out performs it all around the board. I do prefer the rob shift feel though!

Check the FORCED INDUCTION forum, there are a number of people that have the SC setup. As far as mods look around. You can do different intake setups and exhaust to squeeze a few extra HP out. Plus Look here for any free mods you can do yourself like cleaning the UIM or optimizing the throttle body.
