i'm planning on buying the steeda short shifter...and cutting it down some.

i know elky cut down his steeda and used the revers lockout from his B+M, but is there any problem with not using a reverse lockout at all?

i want to cut it down for the shortest shifts i can get without an extreemly short shaft.

also, for those that have removed the reverse lockout, how did you secure the boot?

also- i want the steeda for the 00-02 focus...right?

what I think elky did was leave the reverse lock out slide in place on the shift and removed the stopping block

also his shift knob is near 13 oz, so that helps his shifter I beleive

you can just zip tie the boot to the shifter

oh I would say not using the reverse lock out is like removing it on any shifter, just as long as you don't think for a moment you have a 6-speed and go for 6th.....

also, you shouldn't be able to go from 5th to Reverse whether you have the lockout on the shifter or not, but you could accidentally go from 3rd to Reverse if you aren't very good with a stick.

I've got a B&M shorty in my 'Tour that I've cut another 2.5" I've had no problems with not having the reverse lock out.

Yeah, a buddy let this guy drive his 92 mustang 5.0 and he couldn't drive a manual worth a sh*t! Kept going from 3rd to reverse, or trying to anyway....... Did it like 5 times...the guy is stick shift impaired for sure.

Long story short, reverse bit it about a month later.....$1000 mistake. Don't do that!
