When accelerating lightly in 3rd gear a gentle, rapid surging occurs. With a little more throttle, the surging goes away. I really can't tell if it's surging or missing. The MAF was replaced, which was supposed to cure the problem, but didn't. Any one else have this problem?

Have you tried plug wires, make sure they are in snug and in good shape, as well as the plugs.

My old car did this too- not long before the tranny stopped working. Do a tranny service- change fluid, filter, etc.
