Hello,
I have been searching for an hour or so...

Hopefully someone can help me, The left side of my instrument panel is VERY dim, So I am assuming the bulb is going out. Is there any way to get to those bulbs. I did find a link while searching but it doesn't go anywhere...

I just don't want to be messing around with anything that is going to give me later problems (speedo, etc.)

Thanks!!

What type Tour do you have? Do you have a tach?

There are 5 bulbs that light the instrument cluster in cars with Tach. 3 for the needles, two for the backing. If one of the backing bulbs is burnt out, it'll be dim.

This image shows the gauge cluster in the car, with the trim panel removed. If you look at the top right & left, then the bottom right & left you'll see the brass screws. Also there's one in the middle bottom hidden by the steering wheels.

1: Remove that trim panel first (different between years it seems)
2: Undo the 5 bolts in cluster
3: Pull cluster out a little. There are two plugs in the back (with tach..) that you'll need to undo. A flathead screwdriver pushing in the tab on each plug will help. Once the tab is pushed in, the plugs sort of pop out and just come off.
4: Pull instrument cluster out. Flip it over and there are 5 bulbs in the back The two backing bulbs will be along the top I believe. But it's a good idea to check each bulb. Dealer bulb too I belive. I've never seen in a store. Burnt bulbs will be blackened, or you should see the filament is broken. Bulbs screw in and have notches to make sure they're put in correctly too. You'll see
5: Replace bad bulb & reassemble.

Not hard at all, once you do it you can do it again even quicker.

HOWEVER! Make sure when you put the cluster back in the TACH and MPH are at zero and haven't flipped over to max...I did that more than once
