I love how you know everything about this guy and his car to make such a closed-minded statement.
You're no longer an honorary CEG member and if it were up to me, you wouldn't have the ability to post either.

If he didnt abuse it then sorry for the earler post but it sure seems like it was.
Well I can probably name a few off the top of my head that have had worse luck. And I'm sure there are many more. And with the great track record of failures with these cars it doesn't come as too big of a surprise to me.

Yeah, its very possible... I once recal a guy in the zetec forum whom had to get his Timing belt fixed 3 times (I think )... now was that his fault it kept breaking? Nope, mechanic wasnt installing it right. Its probibly the same situation with his, THe mechanic didnt install the 2nd engine properly... As for the transmission... Its not uncommon for the MTX-75 to take a dump on you... I try to baby my trannie as much as I can... NEVER grind the gears (knock on wood) and try not to run it hard.
But back on topic... Im sorry to hear your CSVT go But an RSX..... is teh new hotness. And you should have LOADS of fun with that car.

Oh NO, once I saw Alias Jerk chime in with HITMANINMI's post I knew it was trouble. On the surface it does sound odd that at 39K you'd lose two motors and a trans, but it sounds like someone, actually a couple guys here, know the guy and is like me, babies the car, so like everyone said, why slam the guy if you don't know the situation As far as your choice of replacement car goes, its a good one as that is one great lookin', reliable car with many upsides, like this ...a little whoring for no apparent reason

I went through 2 engines too hitman. Then again, I don't know if the car was properly maintained. *I* maintained it properly, but I bought the car with 69k on it. My second engine didn't even make it long enough TO be properly maintained, ahahaha...

You know what guys I think once again your right... Ever since the last engine was put in I noticed that the tranny just did not seem as smooth as it usually was somthing just did not feel right but I never thought anything of it until now... Hmm makes ya wonder if there was a way to find that out. Ford just cut my ownership of my fav car short. Also I will proboly never buy a ford again.. As to that other guys point I never took my car to a track, street raced maybee a few times, never ever dumped the clutch. The past 2 years I have driven to work and back every day and thats pretty much about it. About a 12 mile round trip drive. Its just too bad beacuse I love that car soo much! I would love to keep it but now with a used tranny being put in it and no warranty I just can not afford to take the chance of keeping it!
Its a bird, its a plane...wait!..W.T.F.W.T..?

not to beat a dead horse, but hitman, just hush, please? Originally posted by 2000greensvt: I am trading it in for a 04 rsx type s!
sure you don't want to go for the '05? extra 10 hp, 17's instead of 16's, slightly tweaked front and rear fascias, mild suspension tweaking....i'd probably hold out another couple weeks and get the '05 unless you're getting a steal on a leftover 04.
i traded my 98.5 E1 on an RSX-S two months after they came out - end of august '01. nice package, though i wasn't a fan of the ride harshness - which is one of the reasons i only kept it for 13 months. quick car, though, and pretty good handling....just looks like a 4x4 w/ the stock stance. lots of mod potential - just the hondata ECU flash and CAI will drop the car into the high 13's, low 14's pretty easily, iirc. not bad.
good luck w/ it - i was very impressed w/ my local dealer's service dept. after having dealt w/ 3 ford dealers over the course of 3+ years w/ my SVT, and didn't mind taking the car there for oil changes and the like - certainly didn't have to take it there for major reliability woes, which was good.

Sorry about your bad luck, but the Type S is a nice little scooter.
Oh, and no need to be a stranger. You learn a lot going through two engines.
