Yes they are.

To be honest he should already know what he needs for a swap before he starts it.

All this information is readily available.

Oh you didn't see his first post?!

It was something along the lines of....

Hey I just bought this nifty 3L block and I figured it might fit in my car so anybody have any ideas?

j/k, have fun. I wish I could go this route sometime, that's if my car would like to start at least 99% of the time.

Call me kooky, but are we forgetting that the 98 is Fuel Return and the new block is Returnless? I had to had a fuel rail fab'd for the return line. It still scares me a bit as it is only soldered and heat painted... Let me know if there is an easy way around this...

No, this doesnt matter. He is buying a new 3L shortblock, which is basicly an engine without heads. He's using his 2.5L components from the heads, up.

Actually you are right, and that is exactly what I am trying to do.
I have been doing a lot of research on this and you guys have been confirming most of what I believed to be true.

Just wanted to report back on the noise I was hearing from the engine area.
After completely removing the engine and taking off the oil pan, I was able to find the source of my noise. I could grab the #1 cylinder rod cap and move the rod back and forth on the crankshaft and basically dulpicate the noise. I pulled the oil screen off and found the entire screen packed with what looked to be bearing pieces. I am already most of the way through installing the 4F1Z-6009-BA short block from Ford. Everything seems to be going fairly smooth, the NECO Forum with - How To 3.0L Hybrid Overview was a huge help. The example used is a 2000 engine and there are some differences in the 2004 engine I am using.
I have been taking pictures right along and plan to start a new thread with more details and part numbers.
Thanks again for all the help.
Marty
