Anyone with pictures of these atrocities owes the world a chance to admire them! Send pics to the webmaster at www.beaterz.com so we may all be able to better appreciate sanity...

to nitpick, I think the guys at SVT did stuff the lightning engine in an expedition at one point, but just as an engineering exercise. So unless he's REALLY good friends with the high-ups, that's probably not it. But I agree, misbadging is dumb, that guy is a tool (probably).

You pretty much have to be Bill Ford to get stuff done like that, and it still won't be done in the factory, it will get farmed out to one of the engineering shops, just like prototypes do.

And yes, SVT did build ONE Expedition (the old body style) and called it Thunder, it was featured in a couple magazines, and was proposed for production but was quickly nixed by upper management, presumably because of market pressures at the time.
I have driven this "Truck" a couple of times, and though I'm not an SUV type of guy, it was very very impressive. It had a lightning powertrain, some lightning body bits, whells, and a suspension tuned for the additional weight and balance of the Expedition. It was great fun, and can still be seen tooling around Dearborn on occasion.

btw, why do old posts get dragged up all the time?

It's all about balance.

Here's a stupid rebadge story. I had an LX 5.0 notchback 5sp....removed every badge, put a cowl hood on (actually had to, raised intake, extra cooling helped too) and after redoing the grille a bit I slapped on Cutlass Supreme/Olds badges on it. Nobody really knew what it was 'cept it was way fast. Funny point is I always got out of parking tickets (never had one stick) just by noting the make/model written was an Olds and I obviously have a mustang...nudge nudge.

98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....
