This question may bore you audio afficiandos, but I didn't buy my '99 E-1 SVT for the stereo system (did anyone?). I have no intention of upgrading it, though.

Seriously, for the last couple of months the right channel, both front and rear speakers, was popping in and out at random. The right channel has been totally absent for about a week now, whether I use the FM or the CD player. I'd guess the amp is bad.

Is there anything I should check for myself, or should I just ask the dealer to replace the in-dash unit under warranty?

Thanks in advance,
Ned M.

Could be a loose wire, bad HU or bad amp. If you can honestly admit to tolerating the stock system, take it to the dealer to get fixed. Otherwise, any $100HU will sound 100x better.

Thanks much! Maybe it's time for Santa to bring an aftermarket head unit to my house...

If your car is under warranty, the dealer should fix it for free. But in my opinion, it really isn't worth it.
