I've got an odd one here. Just put in a new PA-Performance alternator, new wiring, and a new battery! So what happens is from time to time the battery light flickers and all lights dim at LOW RPM/idle only. What is going on here? It does NOT happen all the time either. I went about a week without it flashing, and now its doing it again! Any input would be great guys. I am thinking maybe some slight belt slippage??? Greg

Yes, the wiring is fine. I have checked that over and over. This seems to be related directly to RPM.

Of course it is, and underdrive pulleys make the situation worse. If you have no CEL, try cleaning the IAC.

What does cleaning the IAC have to do with a flashing battery light? I personally think something with the belt tensioner, but Greg already knows that.

You know, I just had my timing belt replaced, and before that, we were getting the flashing batt light every now & then. When they fixed my car, they said the idle pully was torn to hell, wonder if maybe you don't have the same thing going on.

If the belt is going to slip, it should do so under the heaviest load (after starting or with lights and wipers on).
If the idle is dropping to 500-600 rpm because of the IAC (or something else like Renee's stretched timing belt) the alternator cannot put out enough current and the ALT light comes on. Cause and effect.

I have a pa performance alternator and the same thing is happening.
Mine has all upgraded wiring and about 700 miles on the unit.
My light comes on from 2500-4500 rpm and lights dim, and everything goes back to normal under and above that posted range.

i had the same exact problem, it is the wire plu connected to your alternator, it is just a hair loose. Very easy fix. It will just snap back in.
