after my accident, it has been brought to light to me that NOBODY can fix this car for what its worth, not even a partial repair, they either cant or wont. so...i have an option here, there are several dealers around me that have a drive it in, tow it in, trade it in policy, whether it drives or not, they want it! lol. anyway, i can get at least 1,000 for it as it sits, should i go for it??? i really liek the tour, if i do get another one, it will probably be an SE Zetec or a GL 5 speed w/leather.
any other (non contour) suggestions??? under $2,500 if possible...and does anybody know anything about how long the Gen 1 eclips trans lasts??? i can get one for 1800 bucks, but i dont want to have the trans die on me in 2 months..it has 132K on original motor and clutch...
discuss away plz!!
Regards, Cole.

They don't really want it, and they're not really giving you anything for it.

Just about any car for that low a price will have something "go" on it. Look for one with the most new parts in it, or with expensive ones swapped.

go for another contour... if one is avliable... it think 1000 is generious for what kind of damage needs to be repaired... so You say you have 2500$... is that with the trade in of the tour or with out? if without then you have a pretty wide selection (for 3500)... anyways... Look for an SHO or a taurus... Those things go FOREVER. I know someone who has a 93 SHO ATX and it has like 215K miles... The chick beats on it and it runs great.

i would love to go for another contour, but i need low payments and i NEED an MTX.
it CANNOT HAVE AN ATX.
i can finance one for like 65 bucks a month at the local dealer, i may just head that way tomorrow. id liek to get ito a post 98 if i can, but i dont think it will happen for that price.

They don't really want it, and they're not really giving you anything for it.
They will find a way to get it out of you for free. They will mess with your financing or something. They do that marketing stuff for a reason, not to lose money.

oh how i would love to do that...but i do not want anything to do with the 2.5/3.0l Duratecs, knowing my luck i woudl get a bad one. personal preference/reliability issues.
the Zetec is plenty fast enough for me. anything much faster and i would only hurt myself.
and i repeat, (becasue i want a Zetec 'tour) i MUST have a 5 speed.
