What do you think? I was going to replace my current 712s with new ones, and the guy at the local shop quoted me $430 mounted and out the door.

Then he reccomended this Nitto tire that he said would give me as good of performance and last a little longer than the 712. He said they usually retail for 10 or 20 dollars more per tire than the 712, but he has them on hand and he'd give them to me for the same price.

I know nothing about Nitto tires. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Jed

Ditto. I have gone through a set of NT450s and am now on a set of Neo Gens. I have a little experience I guess...

If it's more than about $460 mounted and balanced, then you're not getting a good deal. I can't really make a good review on the NT450s, I got them near the end of their life. When they had some tread they held good in the dry (a lott better than all-seasons), in the rain they sucked though, but like I said, it was near the end of their life. I have heard good things from other people about them.

I would not recommend the NT450s one bit. Despite camber wear, the overall tread was basically gone after 14k miles of mixed driving. Discount tire sells them for $98 and I bought my Neo Gens from them for $97 each. So for a dollar less, I got a considerably better tire (more quiet, more comfortable, better grip). Next time I'm just staying away from Nitto altogether, unless it is DRs.
