Will a ford premium sound package containing CD player, Amp, and 4 speakers from '00 SVT Contour fit my '98 LX Contour? If so, how easy/hard will it be to get everything in and wired up?
Thing is, I have only have AM/FM and crappy speakers. I planned on buying a CD player, but thats almost $200 there. But if i can get an OK CD player and better speakers to boot, is it worth it $150? Plus the fact that its all Ford factory stuff?

You should probably get it to work fairly easily... but my only question is; Why would you want to put Ford OEM into your car??? If your gonna buy the Ford crap, dont do it... But if you got all that stuff for free, then maybe its worth it, but like i said, maybe... Just my $.02... Peace

by the way my girlfriend drives a 98 svt and that so called "premium sound" is total sh1t. at least two are blown and the otehrs just sound bad.

i would just go get a nice set of infinity's and a decent pioneer head unit or somethin'.

No one will tell you that replacing your system with the Premium sound in the Contours is the way to go. It flat out sucks. I can put up with a pretty crappy system in my car, but not that one.

If you are strapped for cash, check out this deal . $140 for a CD HU and a pair of 6.5" coaxials.

I am strapped for cash. The deal looks great. Are those reliable systems? Will the 6 1/2's go in the front? If so, what about the back? I thought there were 6/8's there so should I get something to replace those as well? Thanks for all the help!

You can use the 6.5" speakers up front and keep the stock ones in the back for now. The stock size is 6x8 in all 4 doors, so you'll need to either make or buy an adapter for the round. I made some with a jigsaw out of some wood I had lying around.

That HU is probably a model year old, but still good.
