This thing blows the Rockford Fosgate amps away. I knew it would be better, But not this much better. Heres a pic of it before installation.

You should Zaino that amp. I'm glad you like it, but I'm not the least bit surprised that you find it that much better.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Precision Power now owned by a/d/s/? That might explain your obvious impressive impression. (Yet another shameless a/d/s/ plug by none other than SVT Contour!)

NICE! HA! Thats what I was about to say! A/D/S RULES! Oh and I'm looking at getting a PPI PCX-5800, if I can sell my Soundstream Rubicon 805. Do you think it would be much of an upgrade. Probably not in power but maybe in clarity? What do you all think? Originally posted by SVT Contour: If I'm not mistaken, isn't Precision Power now owned by a/d/s/?

(Yet another shameless a/d/s/ plug by none other than SVT Contour!)  Do you like a/d/s/?? PPI was good before a/d/s/ ever got a hold of them. Actually, a little better, IMO. The best products I've ever heard by PPI are the old and ugly art series amps. Obviously, they still make top notch equipment.

dnewma04, Speaking of the "old" Precision Power, didn't Bob Carver at some point in the distant past start up a car audio company that specialized in amplifiers, similar to his original home audio company?
I thought Precision Power may well have been that company, but I can't remember for sure.
Any ideas?

I'm not the least bit surprised that this amp has outdone your RF. And like dave said, even the old PPI art series were awesome amps. As far as your soundstream goes, I'm not really sure. I've owned 2 in the past and yes, the power was definately there, however I wasn't to pleased with the clarity of my mids; But I think that had mostly to do with the mids I was running at the time "I didn't like them". On the other hand, my subs sounded great. By the way they were soundstream spl 6.5's in the front and soundstream 5.25's in the back that I was talking about. I got them really cheap, so I decided to give them a shot, needless to say I wasn't pleased. I had a soundstream reference 300 "I think" running them. I had a refernce 700 running 3 JL 10 W6's."like I said, the subs sounded great".

The more I got to thinking about my previous question regarding Bob Carver's ill-fated(?) venture into the car audio market, instead of his company being named Precision Power which still exists under the a/d/s/ corporate banner, I believe it might have been Linear Power.

I've been trying to find some info about Carver's adventures into car audio and can't find anything. I'll do some research into linear power.
I think you may be thinking of Phase Linear. It started as pro and home sound and then later got into car audio. They failed in the american market despite making very good products. They are still around and owned by the same parent company as Jensen (recoton) now. Their american offerings have dropped substantially with respect to quality, but they are among the best brands available in the European market. They have some innovative, but very expensive equipment, most notably, the Alliante series of subwoofers. The 12" has a mounting depth of under 3".

dnewma04, Yes, I now recall a company by the name of Phase Linear but that is about all I remember about them.
I, too, will try to do some research on this topic as now I've piqued my own curiousity about Carver's car audio foray.
Stay tuned (ouch!).
