My CEL is on, so I went to Auto Zone today so I know what error codes there are, well, it had two,

P0171 and P0174

meaning:

P0171 = System too Lean (Bank No. 1)
P0174 = System too Lean (Bank No. 2)

Could any1 tell me what this means and how I can fix that? thanks :-x

P.S.: Its a 99 Ford Contour SVT

I typed P0171 in the "SEARCH" box. There are many posts on this code.

Having both banks lean is a bit different than just one lean code.

Clean the MAF and check for vacuum leaks. If you don't have any luck check the fuel pressure. The fuel filter, pump, and control can all cause fuel pressure problems.

Vacuum/intake leaks when both codes are present.

I just had the same problem. Turned out to be the air bypass hose. The bottom half of the hose was completely torn off and was just being held on by the top. Visual inspection didnt help either. It wasnt until I touched it that it just fell off. So definatley check your hoses and vacuum lines.

I just had the same problem also. Check the hose next to the PCV valve. Mine was cracked.

Where is this hose exactly? I'm getting the exact same codes after a weekend of mod's.
