I'm curious to know the longest time someone has had the vortech on their car without any problems with the supercharger itself..i've read about the jackshaft issue..but trying to get a feel of mileage before problems arise...thx

Best I've heard of was 10-15K from Worldtour.

I blew that one up. Now have the upgraded jackshaft through knukoncepts and a new supercharger. Only have about 1K on it now though...

Ya, I knew it let go not long after you got it and I was thinking he had about 10-12K on it when he sold it.

Acutally, another Jim out here in So. Cal (JETNBYA on these boards), had a Vortech on his SVT, and I think he put on like 45xxx miles on it without a hitch. I even went to an SVTOA open track to watch him run. I stayed for two sessions, and he was out there for the full twenty minutes each time and never had a problem. I think his car had close to 75xxx miles when he got rid of it. His S/C was installed by an ex-Vortech employee, so I don't know if that helped with the jackshaft problem. He had his car running for over three years with the S/C. It was his daily driver as well.

Would have been real nice to have reliability like that from the start of the s/c idea.

The new jackshaft they have should cure all the aligments. Just took them a friggen lifetime to correct it.

I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

The "upgraded" jackshaft has failed as well.
Sam had his fail once and the second time take out the S/C itself - that was after the original JS failed once.

On top of that the S/C toasted his engine because it had no intercooler.

It's not reliable without a lot of extra money put into the setup.

With the extra money spent and setup designed properly it has a lot of potential. However the cash outlay is a hell of a lot more then paying for just the bare untuned kit.

Kinger is speaking of the newest design with the actual joint in it rather than the one with the beefier end that was the second revision.
