Nothing extra added. It's still stock. I just finished replacing the fuel pump (never again) and thought it was fixed. It's still doing the same thing. Supposedly the Ford dealer ran tests on it and said it was the fuel pump. They wanted $630 to fix it! The part was only $173!

Is there some kind of valve that would cause it to die? Could it be as simple as replacing the gas cap? (I wish)

I'm lost.

I've had similiar problems with my 2000 SVT in the past. The car would sputter slightly, then just die. I'd crank it over or pop the clutch and it would start right back up. Sometimes it would only idle rough for a few seconds. I replaced the coil pack and plug wires and it hasn't haunted me since. That was 2 years ago.
Try doing the easy stuff first. The coil pack and plug wires were easy to test with an ohm meter.

When it dies do you have your foot on the gas or is it pretty much off of it? Does it happen at stop signs, etc.?

How can you make that assumtion when no where in his sig, or is there a link, to tell us waht kind of transmission or motor he has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don;t spout stuff out the mouth if its plain obvious that you have no clue what his car has!!!!!!!!!!!

He has a point dude... stop telling people the absolute WORSE when he has only given a broad definition... the best way to test anything, and any person who is even slightly mechanically inclined SHOULD know, is to work your way up the problem chain... First ask a couple of questions... (ex) what engine do you have... and what transmission, those are the two biggest... That way you can search the FAQ or Archive for anything that is related... THEN from there you start with the smallest thing the problem could be, then work you way up the problem chain... its the same way with computers. I was just working on an older system today where I couldnt get it to boot... I didnt just say "Oh, the motherboard is fried" No... I troubleshoot it and worked my way from the ground up it took me about an hour and it turned out the cables were completely installed wrong and I had to reroute all of them... Sorry for the rant... But I felt that needed to be said.

Just driving down the road, doesn't matter what speed you are at, it just like hesitates and then dies. You pull over and wait a few seconds and restart it.

I would like to do the easy stuff first. I had it at the dealer and their diagnosis was the fuel pump too.

No, it's a little 4 cylinder with an automatic tranny. I will have those checked. Thanks.

I took the car to a mechanic. They ran diagnostics on it and said it was an electrical problem, not mechanical and that there is a transducer that is out of calibration. It's starting to sound very expensive.

According to the shop, the car needs a fuel module driver and a fuel pressure transducer. Has anybody put those in? Any help in that area would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I've put so many new parts in it and the darn cel is now on. I wish I could afford a reader. The fuel pump set me back more than I thought. Not to mention the module and the driver. Anybody interested in buying a Mystique with a lot of new parts?
