I keep seeing all these 17x7 and 17x7.5 rims, and I wanted to know exactly what I can stuff into my wheelwells without running into interference from the springs or the fenders. I would like to put 215/45 17s on either Falken Torque-5 or Focal 5-spoke (sorry, don't remember the model) rims, but the Focals come in 17x7.5, not x7. I have no idea what tire sizes work best, and I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

On 17x7.5's, I've seen 1314 run 235/40/17's IIRC. Might rub, might not. If you get too crazy with sizes your speedometer will be off.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

That site will show you what sizes maintain the proper ratio as per your original wheel to keep the speedometer running as close to correct as possible.

PS - Use the search.

I'd run 225/40 on a 7.5" wheel.
