A friend just got a 2001 Volvo S40, and it came factory pre-wired for CD changer in the trunk. Guys at the Volvo dealership told him the only changer that would work with it would be the $600.00 Volvo changer... Anyway, does anyone know of any aftermarket changers that would work? (other than an RF modulated one) I haven't had a chance to inspect the car myself, just thought one of the many knowledgeable people here might know something about Volvos... laugh

The only thing i know about Volvo Car audio is this is one of the nicest install's I have seen.

Don't think that helps though. I'm sure you can find a adapter which will fit. Call crutchfield and ask them, they will tell you straight up if you can get an adaptor. Chances are there is actually a way.

$200 for a CD changer and $300 for a new HU. Save $100 and get better equipment.

Crutchfield is the best bet. If they haven't got an adapter, then it's highly doubtful anyone else has got one.

Usually, a certain brand will work for a manufacturer. You pick up a changer for $200 and an adapter for $25 from Crutchfield, and you're set.

Did you call them, not everything is on their website. Tell them you will buy a changer from them if they can figure out how to fit it, if its available they will figure it out.
