I was recently looking at a used dealer lot, saw a '99 Mystique and took a look inside. There isn't a huge difference between the Contour and Mystique interior layouts, but one thing that caught my attention was the way the arm rests were flat and included the power window buttons. I think it is a much nicer, cleaner look than how my Contour has them on an angle. Does anyone know if it is possible to switch out the original Contour door panels and put in the Mystique panels? Anyone know if they fit in properly and if the Mystique panels would continue with the "contours" of the dashboard into the door panel?

You can just barely make out the Mystique door panels these pics:

Compared to the regular Contour Door panels:

Just curious is all, I'd be interested if anyone has done this at all.

my god...those are amazing, please tell me they can work in contours. Being about 6'3", i find the window buttons in the most awkward position, i usually have to bend my pinky finger in some weird angle to roll down the windows.

I think they should. It's basically the same dash just different door panels.

from those pictures they look like the same dash so the door panel would have to match at that point, and we know that the door layout is the same

for post 98s this looks like it might work, but the dash in a pre 98 mystique is different so I am not sure without going outside and looking if it would be the same also or not
